Big Brother’s Gaze (Demo Version)

Class: ENGL 3363: Digital Storytelling Based on Literature with Dr. June Oh (Fall 2025)

Abstract

Step into Oceania’s ritual of Two Minutes Hate, where every choice, whether to conform, resist, or hesitate, reshapes your fate under Big Brother’s unblinking gaze.” “Big Brother’s Gaze” is a Twine-based interactive narrative in which players embody Winston Smith during the Two Minutes Hate, one of the most iconic scenes in George Orwell’s 1984. The player’s goal is to navigate the razor-thin line between survival and authenticity: outwardly performing loyalty to the Party while inwardly resisting its psychological grip. The demo is a choose-your-adventure/choice-based game in which each choice is vital to your survival.
